A Letter of Acknowledgement:

Nothing is ever birthed into existence without the help, support, and encouragement of some very special people. We Can Win – Real Talk About Prostate Cancer is no different. I wanted to take some time to say “Thank You” to a few of those special people that have walked this journey with me to this point. I am truly grateful for what God has ordained me to do with the organization, and the wonderful people that I am surrounded with.

First, I give thanks and praise to God for the vision to take my tragedy and turn it into triumph. For had I not experienced what it was like to go through this journey, I would have never been able to share with the world my testimony, and the information that I have to share with the world. While the journey at times seemed to be undefeatable, I trusted God through the process.

To my sisters, Elaine Ralph, and Stephanie Golden-Friend, who has walked this entire journey with me, praying for me, keeping me encouraged, and supporting everything I have taken on, “Thank You” for being the most awesome sisters on the planet. I can never forget what you have done for me helping me to get to this point.

To my nephew Matthew Ralph, that has stood flat footed me, and pushed me into my destiny. For his support, and the countless conversations we’ve had since I started on this journey.

To the best, and most awesome Doctor and Nurse Practitioner team at UT Southwestern Radiation Oncology of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Raquibul Hannan, M.D., Ph.D., Chief of Genitourinary Radiation Oncology Service, and Tamara Dickinson, M.S.N., APRN, AGPCNP-BC, CURN, CCCN, I don’t know where my life would be right now had I not met you both. From the day we met, it was always, “you’re going to win this fight.” It’s not often your primary team of specialist become your special friends.

To my children, Dr. Kim Dalcour, Brie Wright, Shaleigha Aubrey, and Iverson “Too Tall” Simpson, thank you for being the greatest kids I father could ask for. Your undying support and understanding have driven me to places I would not have gone without your love and support.

To my Pastors, Ryan and Della Franklin, thank you both for your prayers and for being there when I needed you most.

To all of our Sponsors, Affiliates, and partners around the world, thank you for your  continued support as We Can Win-Real Talk About Prostate Cancer continues to be driven to spread the word about education, research, and screening in the African American Male Communities across the country and across the world.

Lastly, to my wife, Shajuana Renee Wright, there are no words to express my gratitude for how you have stood by my side throughout this ordeal since we met. The number of doctor visits, treatment appointments, the days before we married where you cooked, and entertained family and friends because I was not at my best, making sure I watched what I ate, and so much more. Thank you, babe, for being there, and having my back.

I sincerely thank you all for whatever roles you have played in this journey called prostate cancer. I am not a victim, “I am a VICTOR, by the Grace of God.”

Bishop Dr. Edward W. Wright, Sr., BS, DDiv.
