African American Women: A Focus on Health Equity

Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women, but African American women face unique challenges in their fight against this disease. Despite having a lower incidence of breast cancer compared to white women, African American women are 41% more likely to die from it. This alarming statistic is linked to disparities in access to care, late-stage diagnosis, and biological differences in tumor types.

Barriers to Early Detection and Treatment

African American women often encounter systemic obstacles that hinder early detection and treatment, including limited access to healthcare services, socioeconomic inequities, and lack of

culturally sensitive education about breast health. These factors contribute to delayed diagnoses, with many women not receiving mammograms or follow-up care until the cancer has progressed.

The Role of the Pink Diamonds

At The We Can Win Foundation, Inc., we recognize the urgent need to address these disparities. Our Pink Diamonds initiative is dedicated to empowering African American women with the knowledge and resources they need to fight breast cancer. Pink Diamonds symbolizes strength, resilience, and the unwavering determination of women who stand together to raise awareness and promote early detection.

Through outreach programs, educational workshops, and partnerships with healthcare providers, Pink Diamonds offers a supportive community for women navigating their breast cancer journey.
